James R. “Jim” Hollon

Lessons from a Century of Life

World War II veteran • Businessman • Author • Maverick Investor

Hello, my name is Jim Hollon.

I was born in 1924, and over the course of my life I’ve had the opportunity to see a great deal of history unfold—from the Great Depression, to World War II, to the modern world we live in today.

Like many young men of my generation, I served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II. After the war, I spent many years working in business and finance, helping individuals and organizations think about long-term stability and smart decision-making.

Over time, I began to notice certain patterns—patterns in how people succeed, how they struggle, and how the choices we make today affect the lives we live tomorrow.

Eventually I decided to write down some of those lessons.

My books talk about investing, discipline, and responsibility. But more than anything, they are about something very simple.

They are about improving life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

The world changes constantly. Technology changes. Economies change. But some principles remain remarkably consistent. Honesty matters. Responsibility matters. Trust matters.

My hope is that the ideas shared on this website might help someone develop what I like to call ‘advanced thinking’ and bring more clarity about life, decisions, and the future.

Thank you for visiting.
